Story Bird: Zorro

Zorro is my first bird and best friend. Thursday Febuary 27 my husband was late coming home from work and I wanted to let some of my birds out though i usally don't when he is not there. I thought my thirteen year old son and I could handle them. We let out our U2, pionus and conures. Though supervised my nanday went after my U2. Neither my son nor I  was fast enough to catch the two. The U2 Tyler grabbed Zorro the nanday by the back of his head and crushed his skull. Oh the horror of it all. We rushed him straight to the vet even though it looked quite hopeless. She actually bit through the skull.

Luckily our little story had a happy ending. His skull was badly fractured and we did not expect him to live. When it looked like he was going to live we thought he would be blind and retarded. Zorro in about ten days has started walking, talking ,eating and going back to his old self. It was a miracle he lived at all much less his recovering. I feel alot of it was from the thousand parrot people sending us healing glows and prayers
You can see Zorro's recovery in an album called Prayers For Zorro @ http://community.webshots.com/user/lynjupiter1

I have attached a pic of Zorro three days after his accident. He is doing
really well and yesterday started holding his own food and sleeping on one
leg.  The vet told me to give it a few weeks before I saw any progress yet
two weeks later he is eating , drinking and being a bird!   :)
