Story Bird: Wilma

Just want to let you know what happened today while I
was showering my birds. I have the kind of shower-perches that use 2 suction
cups to stick  on the shower wall.

I placed Wilma my 5 yr old Cherryhead on her perch and as I turn to  finish
placing the other birds on their perches one of the suction cups on Wilma's gave
way causing the perch to rotate poor wilma fell hitting the water handle then
the spigot before landing on the bottom
of the tub.

I rushed her to the vet as she clearly had a contusion on her chest  that
began to swell immediately. An x-ray showed a small split in her keel and
bleeding in her airsack/chest area. She was given a steroid injection,
antibiotics, pain meds. and something for shock. I have her back at home now and
she's eating and moving around some though the vet wants me to keep her quiet
and in her small travel cage so she wont further cause injury by climbing.

So Please...Please everyone check the strength and seal of the  suction
cups on these kinds of perches before placing your babies on them.
